The Kogi State Government has provided 250 solar-powered lights to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp in Asaya, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, in a significant step towards enhancing security, visibility, and the general welfare of corps members and camp officials.
The intervention is part of the state government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and creating a safer, more conducive environment for the conduct of NYSC orientation activities.
The solar lights were delivered to the camp by a representative of the state government and formally received by the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Chris-Moneke Chika Tochi, alongside the Camp Director, 2026 Batch ‘C’ stream one orientation course, Mr. Njoku Ugochukwu and other camp officials, who witnessed the presentation.
The provision of the solar-powered lights was warmly received as a welcome development, given the importance of adequate lighting in promoting safety, security, and comfort within the orientation camp, particularly during evening and nighttime activities.
Following their delivery, all 250 units of solar lights were successfully installed across the camp, significantly improving illumination and visibility within the facility. The installation is expected to strengthen security arrangements, enhance movement within the camp after dark, and contribute to a more comfortable environment for corps members and camp officials.
Beyond improving visibility, the initiative underscores the importance of collaboration between the state government and the NYSC in providing essential infrastructure that supports the successful implementation of the national service programme.
The intervention also reflects the Kogi State Government’s recognition of the need to improve facilities at the orientation camp, ensuring that corps members deployed to the state have a safer and more welcoming environment throughout their orientation exercise.
With the successful installation of the 250 solar-powered lights, the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Asaya is set to benefit from improved nighttime illumination, reinforcing ongoing efforts to enhance the welfare of corps members and the overall standard of camp facilities.
The development marks another positive step towards creating a secure, well-equipped, and conducive orientation environment for corps members serving in Kogi State.
