The Kogi State Government has installed 250 solar-powered lights at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp in Asaya, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, to enhance security, improve nighttime visibility and promote the welfare of corps members and camp officials.
The intervention reflects the state government’s efforts to improve camp infrastructure and provide a safer, more conducive environment for orientation activities.
The NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Chris-Moneke Chika Tochi, confirmed that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo deployed a team of engineers to the camp to install the solar-powered lights, ensuring improved illumination across the facility.
The items were formally received by the State Coordinator, alongside the Camp Director for the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream One Orientation Course, Mr. Njoku Ugochukwu, and other camp officials.
All 250 units have been successfully installed across the camp, improving visibility and facilitating movement when it is dark.
The installation is also expected to support existing security arrangements and provide a more comfortable environment for corps members and camp personnel.
Adequate lighting is essential to the safe conduct of activities within the orientation camp, particularly during evening and nighttime hours.
The intervention is therefore expected to improve the overall camp experience and support the smooth running of the orientation exercise.
The NYSC in Kogi state said the initiative further highlights collaboration between the Kogi State Government and the NYSC in providing essential infrastructure to support the effective implementation of the national service programme.
With the successful installation of the 250 solar-powered lights, the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Asaya is set to benefit from improved nighttime illumination, as the state government continues efforts to enhance facilities and provide a safer, more welcoming environment for corps members deployed to Kogi State.
