FUL Warns Against Use of AI-Generated University Logo

The Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has cautioned staff, students and other members of the university community against using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to generate or alter its official logo and building images.

The warning was contained in an internal memo issued by the Directorate of Strategic Communication and Corporate Documentation and signed by its Director, Dr Tosin Olagunju.

The directorate said the university’s logo represents its identity, history, values and reputation, warning that recreating it with AI tools could lead to distorted designs, altered inscriptions, wrong colours and other inaccuracies.

It urged members of the university community to use only approved versions of the logo and other official images.

Olagunju also advised them against downloading AI-generated logos from unofficial sources, urging them to upload authentic university images when using AI tools for graphic design.

He said the advisory was not intended to discourage the use of AI but to protect the university’s identity and standards.

The memo urged members of the university community to ensure the institution is properly represented in all communication materials.
