Former presidential aide and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Josef Onoh, has commended President Bola Tinubu and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for what he described as renewed efforts to combat corruption and strengthen accountability in public service.
In a statement issued on Monday, Onoh praised President Tinubu for supporting anti-corruption institutions and allowing them to carry out their constitutional responsibilities without political interference.
He also lauded the Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, for leading what he described as a more transparent and results-driven anti-graft campaign, citing the commission’s increasing asset recoveries, prosecutions and efforts to tackle financial crimes across the country.
According to Onoh, the EFCC’s recent achievements demonstrate a commitment to restoring public confidence in Nigeria’s anti-corruption framework and ensuring that individuals involved in economic and financial crimes are held accountable.
He urged Nigerians to support the commission’s efforts by providing credible information that could aid investigations, stressing that the fight against corruption requires the collective commitment of both government institutions and citizens.
Onoh further maintained that sustained enforcement of anti-corruption laws would enhance investor confidence, improve governance and promote economic growth.
He called on public office holders to embrace transparency and accountability, noting that the current administration’s anti-graft drive should remain consistent and free from political influence.
The EFCC has in recent months intensified investigations, prosecutions and asset recovery efforts as part of its mandate to curb economic and financial crimes, with the Tinubu administration reiterating its commitment to strengthening institutions responsible for combating corruption.
