Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has received commendation for his efforts in addressing security challenges in the state.
The Chief Consultant of the Lokoja International Market, Comr. Adams Jimoh, commended the Governor’s approach to strengthening security, peace and development in the Lokoja International Market and other parts of the state.
He gave the commendation during the general meeting of traders and critical stakeholders of the market, where he urged traders to remain peaceful, law-abiding and committed to the growth of their businesses.
He stressed that security and peaceful coexistence were essential to creating a conducive environment for traders, customers, investors and other stakeholders to conduct their businesses successfully.
The Chief Consultant praised Governor Ododo for his support for the market and its community, particularly as it affects security and promotion an enabling environment for commercial activities to thrive.
He called on traders to avoid activities capable of disrupting peace and security in the market, urging them to cooperate with constituted authorities and support efforts aimed at addressing security challenges.
Adams also advised traders to work together to prevent theft and other forms of criminality in the market, warning that such acts could undermine integrity of individual traders and negatively affect the image of the market.
He further encouraged the traders to embrace dialogue, cooperation and unity, noting that the continued growth and development of the International Market depends on the collective responsibility of its stakeholders.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Traders’ Union, Alhaji Hassan Inuwa urged traders to remain focused on their businesses and avoid activities that could create challenges for themselves and their businesses.
He reminded the traders of the management’s policy on respect for rules and regulations, stressing the importance of compliance and peaceful engagement in resolving disputes within the market.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for traders to present concerns affecting their businesses including erosion along the stretch from the Main Gate to the Tomato Section in the market.
The management of the market promised to collaborate with the traders and relevant government agencies to address the erosion problem in the market.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service, traders’ union, section leaders, community representatives and other stakeholders of the Lokoja International Market.
They reaffirmed the commitment of the market leadership and traders to working with the Kogi State Government and relevant authorities to promote peace, security, economic growth and sustainable development in the state.
In recognition of the governor’s efforts, traders and stakeholders of the Lokoja International Market, expressed confidence in the Ododo administration and passed a vote of confidence in the governor’s leadership.
