The Kogi State Government has reiterated its ban on cash collection and illegal roadside roadblocks for revenue generation as it unveiled a modernised Daily Ticketing system to streamline revenue collection across the state.
Under the new arrangement, Solution Network Consults has been appointed to manage the Daily Ticketing scheme, formerly known as the Infrastructure Maintenance Levy, IML.
The announcement was made during a stakeholders’ engagement organised by the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service, KGIRS, in Lokoja.
The Executive Chairman of KGIRS, Dr. Sule Salihu Enehe, recalled that the state banned transport unions from collecting revenue on highways two years ago, stressing that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo remained committed to a peaceful, inclusive and transparent revenue administration system.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Internally Generated Revenue, Dr. Rahman Ichanyi, called for fairness, technology, accountability and the elimination of multiple taxation under the new Daily Ticketing system.
The Director of Income Tax at KGIRS, Mr. Emmanuel Yusufu, explained that the former Infrastructure Maintenance Levy remained largely unchanged under the current tax reforms, with the scheme formally renamed Daily Ticketing.
Responding, the Chief Executive Officer of Solution Network Consults, Chief Yomi Charles, pledged that the firm would deploy modern technology and expertise to improve revenue generation without harassing motorists or transport workers.
