Kogi State Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) has said it is committed to transparency and accountability in dealing with all stakeholders.

The State Coordinator of AGILE, Ahmed Tijani Oricha stated this while conducting a bid closing and public opening exercise for the procurement of vocational kits for secondary school girls across the state.

He noted that the exercise is in line with the project’s procurement guidelines and aimed at selecting a competent bidder to supply quality equipment for skills acquisition centres under the AGILE programme.

Oricha described the bidding process as transparent, stressing that the successful bidder would be selected strictly on merit and in accordance with established procurement guidelines.

He explained that the procurement is part of AGILE’s efforts to expand learning and empowerment opportunities for adolescent girls, particularly those from vulnerable backgrounds, through education and vocational skills acquisition.

The State Coordinator said the initiative would also support girls who may be unable to continue formal education by providing access to alternative learning opportunities, including mass literacy and vocational training designed to equip them with practical skills for improved livelihood opportunities.

Oricha added that the bidding covers the provision of items and equipment for skills acquisition centres, with the successful bidder expected to deliver quality and appropriate equipment to support the training of the beneficiaries.

Speaking after the exercise, one of the bidders, Joshua Godwin described the AGILE team as transparent, commending the team for the fair, credible and successful bid closing and public opening exercise.

The procurement is part of the AGILE’s broader intervention project to improve education and empowerment opportunities for adolescent girls in Kogi State.
