President Bola Tinubu has approved the proposed timetable for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Abdulaziz Yari, disclosed this on Friday after meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Yari said the campaign council would hold its inaugural meeting on October 14, 2026, at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja. The presidential campaign is scheduled to begin in Kaduna State on October 24.
He added that the campaign would move to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and later to Maiduguri, Borno State, as part of plans to mobilise support across the country.
According to Yari, the meeting focused on campaign preparations, including the timetable and planned visits to different states. He said further details would be announced after the inauguration of the campaign council.
On the chances of opposition candidates Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Yari expressed confidence in Tinubu’s chances of re-election.
He argued that winning the presidency would require strong political support in both northern and southern Nigeria, citing former President Muhammadu Buhari’s eventual victory in 2015 after previous unsuccessful attempts.
Yari claimed that Tinubu had support in more than 10 states in both regions, which he described as an advantage for the APC ahead of the election.
He also defended Tinubu’s administration, saying it had made progress in addressing the challenges it inherited and that the economy was moving forward.
