Gov. Ododo Receives CAN’s Friend of the Church Award

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has received the Friend of the Church Award by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kogi State.

The award which is part of events marking the 50th anniversary of CAN is in recognition of Governor Ododo’s support for the Christian community, peacebuilding and the development of the state.

The association acknowledged the support by the Kogi state government in ensuring peace, combating insecurity, and overall development of the state.

Speaking at the event, Governor Ododo commended the Christian community for its role in promoting peaceful coexistence and social development, noting that the greatness of a society rests on its values, unity and legacy for future generations.

“The greatness of a society is measured not only by the wealth it accumulates or the infrastructure it builds, but also by the values it upholds, the unity it sustains and the legacy it leaves for future generations,” the Governor said, urging religious leaders to sustain prayers for the state and use their influence to promote unity rather than division.

The chairman of CAN in Kogi State, Special Apostle Emmanuel Adebayo, commanded the government’s support for the association and its commitment to peace and development.

He also highlighted the ongoing construction of the Kogi State CAN Ecumenical Centre in Lokoja and acknowledged the compensation paid to CAN following the takeover of its former secretariat site for the construction of the Lokoja International Market.
