Real Madrid Beat Barcelona 2-1 as Mbappé Brace Seals El Clásico Victory

Real Madrid secured a 2-1 victory over Barcelona in Sunday’s El Clásico, with Kylian Mbappé scoring twice, including a late winner, to earn the visitors all three points at the Spotify Camp Nou.

The result ended Barcelona’s nine-match winning streak in La Liga and reduced the gap between the two rivals to three points, keeping the title race firmly contested.

Real Madrid broke the deadlock in the 41st minute when Mbappé’s effort found the back of the net following a deflection off Barcelona defender Gerard Martín, whose attempted clearance changed the ball’s direction.

Barcelona sought an equaliser before the interval, but Lamine Yamal failed to capitalise on a promising opportunity as Madrid continued to threaten at the other end.

The hosts returned for the second half with renewed determination and drew level in the 61st minute through Raphinha. The Brazilian winger finished off a move initiated by a quickly taken corner, restoring parity and reigniting the contest.

Barcelona grew in confidence following the equaliser and pushed for a second goal. However, Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin made a crucial save to deny Gerard Martín’s header from a corner, preventing the hosts from taking the lead.

Madrid eventually delivered the decisive blow in the 87th minute when Mbappé completed his brace on the counterattack. Eduardo Camavinga provided the assist, squaring the ball for the French forward to finish and restore Real Madrid’s advantage.

Despite Barcelona’s late efforts, Madrid held on to secure a significant away victory and claim the first El Clásico of the season.

The defeat brought Barcelona’s impressive league-winning run to an end, while Real Madrid strengthened their position in the title race.

Barcelona remained at the top of the La Liga standings despite the loss, with Real Madrid closing the gap to three points as the battle for the league title continued.
