Kogi Distributes Health Data Tools to Hospitals

Kogi State Government has commenced the distribution of Health Data Tools to all public and private hospitals across the state.

The initiative by the state Ministry of Health is aimed at strengthening accurate health record-keeping and improving data reporting to the national health information system.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, represented at the event by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams, described the initiative as a critical step in addressing challenges of information management in the health sector.

He explained that the tools are standardized national documents adopted across Nigeria to ensure uniform health data collection and reporting.

According to Dr. Adams, the state government, through the Department of Health Planning, Research, and Statistics, reproduced 5,000 copies of the Health Data Tools worth millions of naira to meet the needs of health facilities in Kogi state.

He noted that the intervention makes Kogi one of the few states in the country to independently provide the tools, which are usually supplied by the Federal Government.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Director of Health Planning, Research, Statistics, and Documentation, Mr. Johnson Ayedogbon, commended the state government for the milestone stressing that without the use of the tools, services provided in hospitals would remain undocumented, giving the impression of inactivity in the health sector.

Mr. Ayedogbon added that the effort has already improved the state’s performance, with Kogi state achieving up to 80 percent of the national reporting rate on health data.
