The Independent National Electoral Commission has made the preliminary voter register for the 2027 general elections available online, a move coming after weeks of public calls for greater transparency in the process.
The Commission said the online publication is intended to allow Nigerians to inspect their details and make claims and objections as part of the voter register clean-up exercise.
According to INEC, the preliminary register contains names of eligible voters captured during the Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
Stakeholders, including civil society groups and political parties, had earlier raised concerns over limited physical access to the register at local government offices, urging the Commission to leverage its digital platforms.
INEC stated that citizens can now check their information on its official website and report any errors, omissions, double registrations, or inclusion of ineligible persons.
The Commission urged the public to take advantage of the window to ensure a credible and accurate voter roll for the 2027 polls.
