They emphasized that the government’s continued support has been instrumental in accelerating progress, with Omigbo recording 94% completion and Etahi reaching 80% just one year after the project’s commencement in July 2024.

The team commended the contractors for maintaining proper workplace safety practices, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring a clean and organized work environment.

They noted that such compliance demonstrates the government’s strong oversight and commitment to protecting lives, properties, and the environment.

The World Bank experts further stressed the need for continuous risk management practices across all project sites.

According to them, sustained supervision and monitoring of contractors’ activities are crucial to maintaining high standards of safety and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the projects.

Reaffirming their support, the visiting team pledged the World Bank’s continued partnership with the Kogi State Government in strengthening environmental safeguards and improving project implementation.

They described Kogi as a model for other states, noting that the commitment of the administration to environmental protection, safety, and risk management reflects a proactive approach to tackling ecological challenges.

The Project Coordinator of Kogi ACReSAL, Barr. Ladi Ahmed Jatto attributed the success to the state government’s commitment and strict adherence to environmental and safety guidelines.

She applauded Governor Ododo for prioritizing environmental sustainability and also expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for Environment and Ecological Management, Engr.Joseph Oluwasegun, for his steadfast support in driving effective policies and providing the necessary backing for the projects.
