Liverpool Survive Atletico Scare as PSG, Bayern Inter Make Winning Starts

Liverpool kicked off their Champions League campaign with a thrilling 3–2 victory over Atletico Madrid at Anfield, surviving a late scare to claim maximum points.

Mohamed Salah put the Reds in control with two quick goals inside six minutes, but Atletico clawed their way back through Marcos Llorente, who struck in both halves to silence the Kop.

The match appeared destined for a draw until stoppage time, when Virgil van Dijk powered home a towering header from a corner to seal the win.

The dramatic finale was overshadowed by controversy as Atletico boss Diego Simeone was shown a red card following a heated clash with fans, while Liverpool’s new signing Alexander Isak made his debut in front of a roaring home crowd.

In Paris, PSG showcased their attacking firepower with a commanding 4–0 win over Atalanta. Marquinhos opened the scoring early before Khvicha Kvaratskhelia doubled the advantage.

Bradley Barcola missed a penalty that could have widened the margin, but Nuno Mendes and Gonçalo Ramos ensured a comfortable night for Luis Enrique’s side.

Bayern Munich also laid down a statement of intent with a 3–1 triumph against Chelsea at the Allianz Arena. Harry Kane netted twice against his former Premier League rivals, while a Trevoh Chalobah own goal added to Chelsea’s misery.

Though Cole Palmer briefly restored hope for the Blues before halftime, Bayern controlled the second half with ease.

Last season’s runners-up Inter Milan secured a professional 2–0 win away at Ajax. Marcus Thuram was the hero for the Italian giants, scoring both goals to hand Simone Inzaghi’s men a confident start on the road.

Elsewhere, Slavia Prague and Bodo/Glimt battled to a stalemate, while Olympiacos and Pafos FC settled for a 1–1 draw, rounding off an action-packed night of Champions League football.
