The Federal Government has announced the official theme for Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day celebrations. “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation.”
The announcement was made by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Segun Imohiosen.
According to the government, the theme emphasizes unity, collaboration, and patriotism among public institutions, the private sector, civil society, and citizens as vital to advancing national peace, prosperity, and progress.
It further noted that the choice of theme reflects Nigeria’s resilience since gaining independence in 1960, while underscoring the importance of consolidating past achievements and pursuing greater goals under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Government ministries, agencies, and partners have been directed to align their anniversary programmes with the theme to ensure its message resonates across all spheres of national life.
As part of activities for the 65th Independence anniversary, a Juma’at prayer will be held on Friday, September 26, followed by an inter-denominational church service on Sunday, September 28, 2025. A World Press Conference is also scheduled to hold on Monday, September 29, at 10 a.m. in Abuja.
Since independence on October 1, 1960, Nigeria has weathered significant challenges and achieved remarkable progress across diverse sectors of its economy. The government stressed that collective efforts are needed to sustain these gains and forge a stronger, more prosperous nation for all citizens.
