Barcelona Smash Records in Super Cup Semi-Final Rout of Athletic Club

Holders Barcelona stormed into the Spanish Super Cup final with a commanding 4-0 victory over Athletic Club in Saudi Arabia.

The 15-time champions put on a ruthless first-half display, scoring four goals in just 16 minutes to seal the result before the break.

The blitz made history, as Barcelona became the first team ever to net four first-half goals in a Spanish Super Cup semi-final.

Ferran Torres broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute with a close-range finish, followed by a thunderous top-corner strike from Fermin Lopez.

Roony Bardghji’s powerful shot slipped through the hands of Athletic Club goalkeeper Unai Simon, and moments later, Raphinha smashed the ball into the roof of the net, putting Barcelona firmly in control with a 4-0 lead by the 38th minute.

Raphinha added his second of the night just four minutes into the second half, extending the scoreline to 5-0 as Simon was once again left with no chance.

Barcelona maintained dominance throughout the match, securing their ninth straight win across all competitions. Hansi Flick’s team will now await the winner between Atletico Madrid and 13-time champions Real Madrid, who clash on Thursday.

The final is scheduled for Sunday in Jeddah, following an extended agreement between Saudi Arabia and the Spanish Football Federation to host the Super Cup in the Kingdom until 2029.
