Barcelona narrowly defeated Real Madrid in a thrilling five-goal contest to clinch consecutive Spanish Super Cup titles in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The victory marked a record-extending 16th Super Cup crown for Hansi Flick’s team, following their triumph over Los Blancos in last year’s final as well.

Raphinha netted the decisive goal in the 73rd minute with a lofted strike, capping off a dramatic match that saw a flurry of goals just before half-time.

The Brazilian winger had opened the scoring in the 36th minute with a low-driven shot, before both sides exchanged three quick goals during first-half stoppage time, going into the break on equal footing.

Vinicius Jr levelled the score two minutes into the three minutes of added time before half‑time, nutmegging Jules Kounde on an impressive run and then sliding the ball into the far corner for his first goal for Real in 17 games, dating back to October 4, 2025.

In the 49th minute, Robert Lewandowski restored Barcelona’s lead with a clipped finish off the post.

Just three minutes later, Gonzalo Garcia fired in after a scramble in the box saw Dean Huijsen’s header crash off the bar, with Barca boss Hansi Flick arguing that the half‑time whistle should already have been blown.

In stoppage time, Frenkie de Jong was shown a straight red card for a lunge on substitute Kylian Mbappe, who had returned from a knee injury.

The closing stages were tense, with chances at both ends: Marcus Rashford dragged a shot wide when through on goal, and Alvaro Carreras and Raul Asencio both directed efforts straight at goalkeeper Joan Garcia.

Despite the late pressure, Barcelona held firm to clinch their second consecutive title – a feat they had not achieved since 2011.
