Governor Ododo Flags Off Asaya–Ogidi–Ayere Roads, Gives over ₦20m to Corps Members at NYSC Camp

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has flagged off construction of the Asaya–Ogidi–Ayere Roads in Ijumu Local Government Area, describing the project as a strategic intervention aimed at easing movement, boosting commerce and strengthening social integration among rural communities.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony in Ogidi, Governor Ododo said the road project was designed to improve the quality of lives among people at the grassroots by opening up communities for economic activities and social integration.

The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to people-oriented governance, stressing that the state government would continue to prioritise projects that directly impact the wellbeing of rural dwellers.

He noted that the road construction is part of his campaign promises, and he does not need to be reminded of his pledges to the people.

“I value the people at the grassroots, and I am determined to make life easier for them through meaningful and impactful projects,” Ododo said.

He also called on residents of the benefiting communities to support government efforts in tackling insecurity by providing timely and useful information to relevant security agencies.

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, Haruna Ibrahim, described the project as a long-awaited intervention that would enhance safety, boost trade and provide farmers with access to markets.

According to him, the road will also strengthen economic activities and improve connectivity among communities within the local government area.

Ibrahim commended Governor Ododo for improving the security architecture in Ijumu, noting that residents now go about their daily activities peacefully.

Earlier, Governor Ododo paid a visit to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in Asaya, where he addressed corps members and disbursed over ₦20 million in support the orientation exercise.

Addressing the corps members in Asaya Camp, the Governor emphasised the importance of national unity, noting that the NYSC scheme remained a powerful symbol of togetherness among Nigerians.

He urged the corps members to cooperate with one another and foster unity throughout their service year.

Governor Ododo, who recounted his own NYSC experience in Imo State, encouraged the corps members to be good ambassadors of their institutions and communities.

He advised them to conduct themselves responsibly and make positive contributions wherever they are posted to serve.

The Governor’s visit was received with enthusiasm by the corps members, who applauded the gesture and support extended to them by the state government.
