Kogi Govt Restates Support for Welfare of Widows, Vulnerable Groups

The Kogi State Government has reaffirmed commitment to the welfare of widows, persons with disabilities, youths, and other vulnerable groups across the state.

The assurance was given by the Director-General, Government House Administration, Dr. Shaibu Oricha, during an empowerment programme organized by his office for widows at the Government House in Lokoja.

Hel announced plans by the state government to roll out an empowerment programme targeting youths, widows, and other disadvantaged groups.

According to him, his office is already working closely with relevant stakeholders to identify genuine beneficiaries of the initiative.

Shaibu expressed gratitude to the former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, and Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, for the opportunity to serve the state in various capacities.

He emphasized that the present administration remains committed to giving back to the people, particularly the most vulnerable members of the society.

Reiterating the government’s support for the Widows’ Care Foundation, the Director-General noted that the administration is keen on strengthening partnerships that promote care, inclusion, and empowerment for the less privileged.

He encouraged the widows to remain resilient, stressing that the loss of a spouse does not mark the end of life.

He also urged them to stay strong, take up responsibilities, and trust that every sacrifice would ultimately be rewarded.

Speaking on behalf of the widows, the Coordinator of Kogi State Widows Network, Mrs. Ojone Ojatah, commended the Kogi State Government for its benevolence and continued support to widows in the state.

She offered prayers for divine guidance and success upon the administration of Governor Ododo for prioritizing the welfare and wellbeing of widows and other vulnerable groups in the State.
