Antoine Griezmann Set for MLS Switch as Orlando City SC Secure Summer Deal

Antoine Griezmann will bring his long-standing association with Atlético Madrid to an end this summer after agreeing to join Major League Soccer side Orlando City SC. The 35-year-old forward is set to complete the move in July, marking a significant transition after years at the pinnacle of European football.

Griezmann leaves Atletico as the club’s all-time leading scorer, having netted over 200 goals across two spells. His impact at the Spanish side has been profound, with his contributions helping to shape one of the club’s most competitive eras in modern football.

Speaking on his upcoming move, the former France international expressed enthusiasm about embracing a new challenge in the United States. He noted that early discussions with Orlando City revealed a strong sense of ambition and a clear long-term vision, factors that influenced his decision to make Florida his next destination.

Beyond his club achievements, Griezmann also enjoyed a distinguished international career with the France national football team, scoring 44 goals in 137 appearances before retiring in 2024. He was a key figure in the squad that secured the 2018 FIFA World Cup, further cementing his place among France’s notable football figures.

Despite confirming his departure, Griezmann emphasized that his journey with Atlético Madrid is not yet over. He remains focused on finishing the current campaign strongly, with ambitions of competing for silverware before bidding farewell to the club he has often described as family.
