Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo reaffirmed the state’s commitment to supporting frontline healthcare workers. These dedicated professionals have continued to serve the people of Kogi in the face of numerous challenges across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.

Represented by his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu, Governor Ododo emphasized that the ongoing revitalization of more than 150 PHCs was a significant part of his administration’s goal to improve healthcare delivery. This initiative, according to the Governor, is in alignment with his vision for a healthier Kogi State. He further praised the frontline health workers for their unwavering dedication and described them as the cornerstone of the state’s healthcare system.

The Governor also assured the health workers that his administration would continue to prioritize their welfare, safety, and overall well-being. This pledge came as a direct response to the essential services these workers continue to provide despite the difficult working conditions. Governor Ododo’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and supporting medical staff underscores his broader vision for the state.

Dr. Abdulazeez Adams, the state’s Commissioner for Health, also spoke at the ceremony, stressing that the training of frontline health workers is a vital step toward enhancing the state’s healthcare capacity. He highlighted the importance of ensuring that healthcare professionals are well-equipped with both the necessary skills and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to address health emergencies effectively. Dr. Adams noted that these initiatives form part of a larger strategy to fortify Kogi’s healthcare infrastructure.

He emphasized that frontline healthcare workers are the first point of contact for many people in need of medical care at the grassroots level. By equipping these workers with better training and resources, the state aims to improve overall healthcare delivery across Kogi.

As the ceremony concluded, the highlight was the presentation of PPE to the frontline workers at all Primary Healthcare Centres in the state. This gesture reflects the government’s ongoing support for the health workers’ safety and the development of the state’s healthcare system.
