Man Utd’s Antony Draws Saudi Bids, Rules Out Betis Return

Manchester United winger Antony faces a pivotal decision in his career as interest from the Saudi Pro League intensifies. With a permanent return to Real Betis appearing unlikely and European clubs hesitating, the Brazilian may be edging closer to a Middle East switch despite preferring to remain in Europe.

The 24-year-old spent last season on loan at Real Betis, where he impressed with nine goals and five assists in 26 appearances. However, the Spanish side is currently unable to finance a permanent deal and is to instead exploring another potential loan something United are not keen on as they prioritize a full transfer.

Two major Saudi Arabian clubs have reportedly expressed strong interest in signing Antony, presenting a lucrative lifeline as United look to recoup part of the £86 million they spent to sign him in 2022. Talks are still at an early stage, but sources suggest the winger is open to hearing proposals if a European deal doesn’t materialize soon.

While clubs like Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Bayer Leverkusen have monitored Antony’s situation, none have made formal offers. Leverkusen manager Erik ten Hag, who originally brought Antony to Old Trafford, recently told German media: “We are not interested at the moment,” despite leaving the door slightly open by adding, “we’ll see what happens in the future.”

Bayern Munich, meanwhile, are targeting a left-sided attacker, and with no concrete interest from Spain or Germany, Antony’s European options appear limited. His reluctance to leave Europe altogether adds another layer of complexity to what is shaping up to be a tense summer for both the player and Manchester United.

United’s transfer activity this summer has seen big-name departures and high-profile arrivals, but moving Antony on remains a key part of their squad overhaul. Unless a European bid emerges quickly, a Saudi move once unlikely could soon become the most viable path forward.
