Chelsea Floored at Home as Promoted Sunderland Steal the Show in Added Time

Chelsea’s fine run in the Premier League came to an abrupt end on Saturday as newly promoted Sunderland sealed a dramatic 2–1 victory at Stamford Bridge.

Substitute Chemsdine Talbi’s last-gasp winner deep into stoppage time silenced the home crowd and lifted the visitors to an unexpected second place in the league table.

The game had started brightly for Chelsea, who took the lead just four minutes in through Alejandro Garnacho’s first goal for the club.

The young forward latched onto a loose ball in the box and finished confidently, giving the Blues early control and hope of extending their winning streak to five matches.

Sunderland, however, refused to be overawed. Their persistence was rewarded midway through the first half when Wilson Isidor levelled matters, pouncing from close range after Chelsea failed to clear a long throw.

From that moment, the visitors grew in confidence, matching the Blues in possession and showing greater urgency in attack.

Despite dominating the ball, Chelsea struggled to create clear chances in the second half. Their rhythm faltered as frustration grew, while Sunderland remained compact and disciplined, waiting patiently for the moment to strike.

That moment came in the dying minutes when Brian Brobbey’s clever pass found Talbi, who coolly slotted past Robert Sánchez to seal all three points.
