Casemiro Set for Old Trafford Farewell as United Accelerate Midfield Rebuild‎

‎Manchester United will part ways with Casemiro at the end of the season, with the Brazilian midfielder set to depart when his contract expires this summer.

‎The decision concludes a four-year spell at Old Trafford and reflects a strategic shift by the club as it looks to refresh its midfield ahead of a new cycle. United opted against triggering a 12-month extension in Casemiro’s deal, a call understood to have been made well before the formal announcement.

‎Signed in August 2022, Casemiro delivered immediate impact, bringing pedigree and authority to a side in transition.

‎His tenure included decisive moments on the biggest stages, notably scoring in a League Cup final win in 2023, helping United lift the FA Cup in 2024 after reaching consecutive finals, and featuring in the Europa League final last season.

‎While performances fluctuated in later campaigns, his experience remained a key reference point within the squad.

‎United’s choice is also rooted in long-term planning. Casemiro is among the club’s highest earners, and freeing up wages is expected to create room for reinvestment as the recruitment focus turns to younger profiles.

‎The club has already been linked with midfield targets such as Carlos Baleba, Elliot Anderson and Adam Wharton, underlining an intent to balance energy, durability and future value.

‎For Casemiro, the clarity offers a chance to finish strongly, with the midfielder insisting his focus remains on competing for silverware in the final months and representing Brazil at the World Cup this summer.

‎“I will carry Manchester United with me throughout my entire life,” he said, framing his exit not as a goodbye but as a closing chapter marked by ambition, gratitude and one last push for success.
