Information Minister Flags Off Media Committee for APC National Convention

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, on Monday inaugurated the Media and Publicity Subcommittee for the 2026 National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the event will showcase the ruling party’s unity, discipline and collective commitment to Nigeria’s progress.

Idris made the remark in Abuja while inaugurating the committee, where he serves as Co-Chairman.

He described the upcoming convention as an important milestone for the party as it continues efforts to strengthen internal democracy and consolidate its vision for a united, prosperous and progressive Nigeria.

Speaking virtually from the United Kingdom, the minister said the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is implementing bold reforms aimed at repositioning the country for sustainable economic growth and long-term development. He added that the APC remains committed to advancing the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Idris stressed that effective communication would be critical to the success of the convention, noting that the responsibilities of the Media and Publicity Subcommittee extend beyond routine publicity.

According to him, the committee is expected to ensure accurate dissemination of information, coordinate media engagement, promote transparency and project the convention’s processes and outcomes to Nigerians and the international community.

He outlined the committee’s duties to include content creation, media relations, media planning and buying, liaison with other subcommittees, documentation, and media monitoring and evaluation across print and broadcast platforms. The APC National Convention is scheduled to hold from March 27 to March 28, 2026.
