The All Progressives Congress has described its ongoing primary elections as the most competitive in Nigeria’s history, citing unprecedented participation across the country.
Speaking after a meeting with president Bola Tinubu in Lagos, the National chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda said the scale of the process reflects the APC’s nationwide reach and acceptance.
He noted that the turnout shows how deeply the APC has penetrated communities nationwide and how it has become the preferred platform for aspiring leaders.
Yilwatda noted that while the primaries were largely peaceful, some complaints and rejections were expected, stressing that party guidelines on consensus and direct primaries were clear and applied uniformly.
On post-primary tensions, the APC national chairman said the party is prepared to manage disagreements through its internal conflict resolution structures, including the Presidential Conflict Resolution Committee and the Party Conflict Resolution Committee.
He thanked the President for backing the National Working Committee in enforcing party regulations in the course of the primary elections.
