The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has uncovered another alleged fake agency operating within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
Following the discovery, President Bola Tinubu has ordered the immediate arrest of the alleged promoter of the organisation and directed the suspension of three Permanent Secretaries linked to the office.
ICPC Chairman, Musa Adamu Aliyu, disclosed this on Friday while briefing State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Aliyu identified the organisation as the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office, which was allegedly allocated office space within the SGF complex without presidential approval or authorisation.
According to the ICPC chairman, the discovery was made during an investigation into the fictitious Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council and broader weaknesses in government administrative procedures.
The commission identified Prince George Buchi Nwabueze as the alleged promoter of the organisation, while investigations reportedly indicated that some officials within the SGF’s office may have facilitated its operation.
Following the briefing, President Tinubu ordered Nwabueze’s immediate arrest and approved the suspension of three Permanent Secretaries: M. S. Danjuma, Engineer Nadungu Gagare and Richard P. Pheelangwah.
The ICPC said investigations into the matter are ongoing, while the President has also directed a forensic audit of government processes to identify loopholes and prevent similar abuses in the future.
