Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 23 kidnapped victims and arrested four suspected members of the Lakurawa group in separate operations across Sokoto State.
The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, disclosed this during an interview with journalists on Monday.
Danja said the operations were conducted on Sunday, September 20, 2026, in different parts of the state.
In Wurno Local Government Area, troops responded to an attack on Sabon Gari and rescued six kidnapped victims after engaging the attackers.
In a separate operation along the Isa-Kwanar Isa-Shinkafi Road, the troops rescued 17 kidnapped civilians following reports of terrorist activity in the area.
The troops also arrested four suspected members of the Lakurawa group in Illela Local Government Area and recovered six cattle allegedly rustled by the terrorists.
The military said some of the rescued victims who sustained injuries were taken to medical facilities for treatment.
