Kogi State civil servants on Sunday converged on the Unity Chapel, State Secretariat, Lokoja, for a thanksgiving service to mark the 2026 Civil Service Week.
The service, organised by the Kogi State Public Service Christian Fellowship (KSPSCF), was held to thank God for His faithfulness over the lives and careers of workers.
The Head of Service, Hajiya Falilat Yusuf Musa, Esq., commended workers for their dedication and commitment to duty.
Represented by the Chairman, Forum of Permanent Secretaries, Pastor Sunday Ode, the Head of Service urged workers to sustain the spirit of unity and participate in the remaining activities for the week.
The service featured praise and worship, prayers, Bible reading, testimonies and thanksgiving, with Permanent Secretaries, Directors, clergy and other civil servants in attendance.
Delivering the sermon, the Chaplain of the KSPSCF, Pastor Paul Funsho, charged workers to embrace the values represented by the acronym “DRIVE” — Determination, Resoluteness, Intercession, Vision and Engagement.
Drawing lessons from the biblical examples of Elijah and Daniel, Funsho urged civil servants to remain steadfast, disciplined and committed to their responsibilities.
Special prayers were offered for the Kogi State Government, the Head of Service and civil servants.
The service also featured an offering session led by Elder Ben Adaji, with worshippers singing and dancing.
Speakers at the occasion appreciated the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for what they described as an enabling environment for civil servants and the prompt payment of workers’ salaries.
In his vote of thanks, Elder M. M. Shaibu, on behalf of the Board of Unity Chapel, appreciated the Head of Service and prayed for the successful completion of the week’s activities.
