Nigerian-British businessman and social media influencer, Igho Ubiribo, had undergone five penis enlargement procedures at a Bangkok clinic before his death.
The Department of Health Service Support, under Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health, disclosed this on Tuesday after inspecting the clinic where Ubiribo underwent his final procedure.
Ubiribo, 43, also known as “Tiny,” “Denisi” and “Ego,” died in March after undergoing a penile filler procedure while on holiday in Thailand with his wife.
According to the DHSS, the clinic told investigators that Ubiribo had been a regular patient since 2024 and had received five injections to enlarge his penis.
The first four procedures were carried out between 2024 and 2025, while the fifth took place on March 5, 2026, a day before his death.
The DHSS said the investigation began after emergency medical services received a request for an ambulance from a private hospital in Bangkok’s Sukhumvit area on March 5.
According to the statement, Ubiribo’s wife told medical personnel that he had received a filler injection earlier that day before going for a massage.
He later complained of chest pain and lost consciousness. Doctors suspected a blood clot and prepared to conduct a CT scan with contrast dye to examine his blood vessels.
However, Ubiribo lost his pulse before the scan could be performed. Medical personnel commenced cardiopulmonary resuscitation but were unable to revive him.
The DHSS subsequently inspected the clinic on Rama 1 Road, Pathum Wan District, Bangkok, on September 7 to examine its operations and gather evidence.
The clinic told investigators that Ubiribo had received five injections for male genital enlargement.
The final procedure involved the injection of 40cc of filler into his penis.
The doctor reportedly recommended splitting the procedure into two sessions, but Ubiribo opted to have the entire injection administered at once.
The clinic said it provided post-operative instructions and followed up with him after the procedure, adding that he did not report any complications. It also said he signed consent forms before each procedure.
The investigation followed a directive from Thailand’s Minister of Public Health, Pattana Promphat, to the DHSS and the Food and Drug Administration to examine the circumstances surrounding Ubiribo’s death.
The Director-General of the DHSS, Phuwadej Surakhot, said the authorities would gather all available evidence before referring the professional-practice aspect of the case to Thailand’s Medical Council.
“We will gather all facts and evidence to proceed according to our authority and submit the case to the Medical Council for a ruling on professional practice standards, in order to ensure fairness to all parties,” the statement quoted him as saying.
The authorities, however, have not announced any finding of malpractice against the clinic.
Ubiribo’s death had earlier been linked to the cosmetic procedure by a UK coroner, with evidence presented at an inquest indicating that the treatment caused a fatal pulmonary embolism.
Punch Online had earlier reported that about 40 millilitres of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine had been injected into Ubiribo’s penis during the procedure.
After the injection, Ubiribo and his wife reportedly went for a massage at their hotel, where he complained of chest pain and collapsed twice.
He was subsequently taken by ambulance to Sukhumvit Hospital, where doctors suspected a pulmonary embolism and planned a CT scan. He, however, lost consciousness before the scan could be conducted.
Medical staff performed CPR for more than 100 minutes but could not revive him. He died in the early hours of March 6.
A postmortem examination later found material in his lungs consistent with the hyaluronic acid used during the penile filler procedure.
Following Ubiribo’s death, an aesthetic medicine and dermatology physician, Dr Mobola Savage, warned that penile filler procedures were not without risks.
“Non-surgical does not mean risk-free. Penile filler is still an invasive medical procedure involving highly vascular anatomy,” Savage said on X.
She explained that Ubiribo had undergone non-surgical penile augmentation, rather than conventional enlargement surgery, primarily to increase penile girth.
The Thai investigation is ongoing as authorities determine whether the clinic and medical professionals involved complied with the required standards.
