The House of Representatives candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Okehi/Adavi Federal Constituency, Engr. Yusuf Ahovi, has commenced consultations with traditional rulers and other key stakeholders across the constituency as part of his engagement with the people ahead of the election.
The APC candidate who was received by a large crowd of supporters, party members and community stakeholders at Itakpe Junction was led by the
Kogi State Chairman of the APC, Engr. Aliyu Momoh Ezzu, and other party leaders on the tour of communities in Adavi and Okehi Local Government Areas.
The delegation visited the Ohi of Eika-Ohizenyi, Ohi of Adavi, Ohi of Uhuodo, Ohi of Ihima, elder statesman, Alhaji Isa Ozi Salami and other community leaders where the candidate was formally presented as the party’s candidate for the constituency.
Speaking during the visits, Ezzu emphasised the importance of consulting with the traditional institution and the people in the political process, describing the familiarisation tour as part of efforts to strengthen, unity and grassroots engagement within the constituency.
On his part, the APC House of Representative candidate emphasized the importance of inclusive consultation, noting that traditional rulers remain an important link between political leadership and the people, particularly in understanding the realities and priorities of local communities.
Ahovi noted that his visits to various traditional institutions in the area was to seek guidance and support of the traditional rulers while listening to their concerns about challenges confronting their communities and expectations of the people.
He said his approach to representation would be anchored on listening to the people, identifying most pressing needs and ensuring that the constituency’s interests receive effective representation at the National Assembly.
The traditional rulers, in separate remarks, expressed support for the candidate and called for greater attention to grassroots development, while urging political leaders to remain committed to the welfare and aspirations of their communities.
Yusuf emerged as the APC candidate following the party’s House of Representatives primary election held on May 16, 2026.
The consultations are expected to continue across communities, traditional institutions, party members and other stakeholder groups in Adavi and Okehi Local Government Areas ahead of the 2027 general elections.
