As the nation marked Workers’ Day on May 1st, Honourable Salman Idris, Member representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, extended warm greetings to Nigerian workers, commending their steadfast commitment to national development.
He described workers as the backbone of the country, whose daily efforts sustain economic and social progress.
In a statement released to mark the occasion, Hon. Idris acknowledged the sacrifices and resilience of workers across all sectors.
He noted that their unwavering dedication in the face of economic challenges deserves recognition, respect, and meaningful support from both state and federal leaders.
The lawmaker also lauded the Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, for extending the tax holiday for state workers for another year.
Idris said the decision reflects the governor’s sensitivity to the current economic realities and his genuine concern for the welfare of the state’s workforce.
According to Hon. Idris, the tax relief will offer significant financial relief to Kogi workers by enabling them to retain more of their earnings amid rising costs of living.
He emphasized that such measures are vital in boosting morale and enhancing productivity among public servants.
He further expressed his appreciation to Governor Ododo for demonstrating people-centered leadership and urged other state governments to adopt similar strategies to improve the lives of their workers.
He described the initiative as a clear example of responsive governance.
