Gov Ododo Applauds NKFI Drone Technology Initiative

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo has applauded the Nigeria-Korea Friendship Institute for Vocational and Advance Technology for venturing into development of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as drones, noting that such technological innovation could reduce logistical barriers and improve surveillance when fully developed.

The Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Ismaila Isah made this known during a working visit to the NKFI as part of engagements to promote team spirit among officials of the Kogi State government.

He commended the Rector of Institute, Dr. Charles Oluwatoyin for his foresight in leadership as evident in the level of innovation and creative output especially the development of drone technology with surveillance capabilities.

He emphasized the critical role of technology and innovation in addressing contemporary challenges and praised the institute for taking a step forward in developing technological solutions that have potential to improve lives and safety of individuals and communities in the state.

The Special Adviser noted that the use of drones could help people to overcome logistical barriers and improve the wellbeing of people around the state, assuring that Governor Ododo being a believer in innovation is proud of the manpower development and youth empowerment efforts by the agency.

Rector of the NKFI, Dr. Oluwatoyin, expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed the Institute’s readiness to continue to develop technological solutions to improve livelihoods based on the technical capacity and talent available to develop world class innovations.

He noted that the partnership with the office of the special adviser on media to the governor to support ongoing technological development at the Institute aligns with the mission of the Institute to collaborate with individuals and organizations interested in providing practical solutions through technology.

He explained that the drone technology adds to NKFI’s expanding portfolio in cutting-edge technology, which he said reinforces the broader agenda of Governor Ododo’s administration to embrace technology towards improving security, transparency and accountability in governance in Kogi State.

The visit concluded with a tour of NKFI’s innovation labs, where the Rector showcased some of the Institute’s ongoing tech-driven projects.
