Donnarumma Linked with Old Trafford Move Amid PSG Exit Talks

Manchester United are reportedly considering a major move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, as question marks continue to hover over the long-term future of their current number one, Andre Onana.

With Donnarumma entering the final year of his contract in Paris, and PSG closing in on a deal for Lille’s Lucas Chevalier, the Italian international’s future has become the subject of serious transfer speculation.

United’s interest in Donnarumma signals a potentially decisive shift in their goalkeeping plans. Although the 26-year-old Italian has not rushed any decision, he is open to remaining at PSG and even competing with Chevalier for the starting role. However, the Premier League giants are reportedly monitoring the situation closely and could pounce if Donnarumma becomes available at the right price.

The Red Devils’ interest comes at a time when Onana’s position at the club is being scrutinized. The Cameroon international, currently recovering from a hamstring injury during United’s U.S. tour, has endured a mixed spell since arriving at Old Trafford. Statistically, Onana made more errors leading to goals than any other Premier League goalkeeper since the start of the 2023/24 season, a factor believed to be fuelling United’s search for alternatives.

Analysts argue that Donnarumma would represent a significantDonnarumma Linked with Old Trafford Move Amid PSG Exit Talks
upgrade between the sticks. Standing at 6ft5in, the former AC Milan star has become one of Europe’s most commanding goalkeepers. His recent performances for PSG, particularly during their Champions League triumph and the Club World Cup campaign, have further cemented his reputation as a top-tier shot-stopper.

Despite Donnarumma’s success, PSG appears to be planning for the future with Chevalier expected to arrive soon. That move may open the door for United to begin negotiations. Former players and pundits have already suggested Donnarumma’s presence could bring much-needed authority and confidence to United’s defensive setup, something they say has been lacking under Onana’s tenure.
