“On behalf of the government and people of Kogi State, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Etsu, the Bassa Nge Kingdom, and all citizens mourning his loss,” the Governor added.

Governor Ododo hailed Alhaji Abu Ali as a “Majestic King” whose life and dedicated service will continue to inspire generations. He prayed that Allah Almighty grants the late monarch eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus and provides strength and comfort to his family, subjects, and admirers.

Alhaji Abu Ali is a retired Brigadier General, who served as Military Governor of Bauchi State from September 1990 to January 1992.

During his tenure, he commissioned key infrastructure projects, including the Bauchi Township Water Project, oversaw the completion of several hospitals, and played a decisive role in restoring order during the Tafawa Balewa crisis of 1991.

He was also the father of the late Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Abu Ali, a celebrated Nigerian Army officer nationally honored for his bravery in the fight against Boko Haram.

After completing his military service, General Abu Ali dedicated himself to his community and heritage as the Etsu Bassa Nge, a first-class traditional ruler in Kogi State since 2000. In this capacity, he exemplified wisdom, cultural pride, and strong leadership, earning enduring respect throughout Nigeria.
