Kogi State Drugs Agency Host Stakeholders’ Meeting to Improve Healthcare Standards

The Kogi State Drugs and Medical Supplies Management Agency, in collaboration with the Kogi State Hospitals Management Board, convened its quarterly review meeting with the management teams of all secondary health facilities across the state.

The stakeholders meeting which attracted over 200 participants in attendance was to review challenges affecting health care facilities and discuss strategies for sustaining best practices in hospital operations and service delivery.

Speaking during the session, the Executive Secretary of Kogi State Drugs and Medical Supply Management Agency, Pharmacist Salamat Ibrahim, encouraged pharmaceutical companies to introduce products that would improve patient adherence, particularly for individuals on multiple drug therapies.

Salamat urged heads of health facilities to avoid procuring drugs from unregistered pharmacies, warning against the dangers of counterfeit and adulterated medicine to public health.

She also called on management of health institutions across the state to strengthen collaboration with the agency in promoting the unified single supply system.

According to her, the system guarantees access to quality drugs from known and approved suppliers under a uniform pricing regime while ensuring proper distribution channels that preserve the efficacy of pharmaceutical products.

The Executive Secretary noted that strengthening the drug supply chain would improve accountability, enhance visibility of drug sources and further position Kogi State among leading states in effective drug management.

Salamat commended the Chief Medical Director of the Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Olayemi Ayo Jonathan and his management team for their continued support towards the vision of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, in delivering quality healthcare services across the state.

She equally appreciated the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adams Abdulazeez Adeiza, for his leadership and dedication to the advancement of the Agency’s mandate.

The Executive Secretary further thanked the management and staff of the Agency, as well as representatives of the participating pharmaceutical companies, for contributing to the success of the meeting through knowledge sharing on drug indications and proper usage.
