The Provost of Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, Femi Fashagba, has announced that graduates of the institution from 2016 to 2025 can now begin the process of collecting their certificates after a decade of delay in issuance of the certificates.

Fashagba disclosed that the inability of the institution to issue certificates over the past ten years had attracted widespread criticism from past students, particularly on social media, and negatively affected the image of the college.

According to him, more than 4,000 graduates were unable to access their certificates during the period, creating serious concerns among alumni of the institution.

The Provost explained that upon assuming office, his administration identified the certificate backlog as one of the critical challenges confronting the college.

He noted that his administration swiftly engaged with the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) to address the issue, despite the rigorous process involved, explaining that state-owned colleges of education are not directly authorized to print certificates without due approval.

Fashagba said the intervention has now yielded positive results, disclosing that graduates from 2016 to 2020, from within and outside Nigeria, can now contact the institution for the collection of their certificates from Monday 18th May, 2026.

He further revealed that graduates from 2021 to 2024 are expected to receive their certificates within the next two weeks.

The Provost added that the institution has now developed the capacity to issue certificates promptly, citing the example of students who graduated in 2025 and are already being processed for issuance of certificates without delay.

Fashagba commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for the confidence reposed in his administration, assuring that the college would continue to pursue reforms and development aimed at repositioning the institution for excellence.
