Dekina APC Stakeholders Unite, Pledge Support for Party Candidates

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State have resolved to unite and work for the success of the party’s candidates in the forthcoming general elections.

Speaking at the stakeholders’ meeting held in Lokoja, Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hajia Rabietu Okute, said the party members have resolved their differences to work together for the party’s victory.

Rabietu pledged the stakeholders’ support for Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and other APC candidates, saying the party would secure votes from the presidential to the councillorship elections.

She commended the administration of Governor Ododo for its development efforts, particularly the payment of salaries and ongoing projects across the state.

Similarly, Member Representing Dekina/Biraidu Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Ochidi Shehu Usman, said the stakeholders agreed to deliver all APC candidates in the elections.

He urged members who felt aggrieved over the outcome of the last primary elections to put their differences aside, stressing that two persons could not occupy the same position at the same time.

Usman appealed to those absent from the gathering to embrace reconciliation and return to the party.

He cited Senator Jibril Isah Echocho as one of those who had benefited from the party for eight years, urging stakeholders to reach out to him and encourage him to continue working for the APC.

He said members of the party in the Dekina local government area have passed a vote of confidence in Governor Ododo, citing his projects and efforts to improve security in the area.

According to him, the improved security situation had led to an increased presence of security personnel along the Itobe-Dekina road.

He added that members had resolved to concentrate on strengthening the APC and avoid activities that could undermine its unity ahead of the elections.

Usman disclosed that Godwin Omachi had been appointed acting APC chairman of the party in Dekina Local Government following the death of the late party chairman.

He said the party members needed to fill the vacancy ahead of the elections, adding that Omachi is a known party member who understands the party’s structure and had worked for its progress.

Usman urged the acting chairman to build on the legacy of his predecessor and exercise caution in view of security challenges associated with election periods.

The former representative of Dekina State Constituency, Hon. Idoko Moses, who spoke on the outcome of the meeting called for unity among APC members in the local government.

Moses said the gathering was aimed at consolidating support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Ododo, the party’s senatorial candidate and other APC candidates.

He also commended the governor’s administration, saying its policies and projects had given the people reasons to support the APC.
