Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, has approved a resit examination for eligible final-year and spill-over students to enable them clear outstanding courses and complete their studies within the approved period.

The university Senate gave the approval at an emergency meeting held on Wednesday, following a proposal by the Director of Academic Planning and Development, Prof. Joseph Olukayode Ogunbiyi.

The resit examination will commence from the 2026/2027 academic session and is open to final-year and eligible spill-over students who had registered for, sat and failed courses required for graduation.

PAAU said the measure would help reduce unnecessary spill-over and give affected students another opportunity to clear their outstanding courses.

Students seeking to take part in the programme must have a minimum CGPA of 1.00 and must not have exceeded the approved period of study for their programmes. They must also be screened by their departments and faculties.

Students who registered for courses in the regular semester but did not sit for the examinations will not be eligible.

Eligible students may register for a minimum of one and a maximum of 10 courses, subject to the university’s approved credit-load requirements.

Applications will be processed through the Heads of Department and Deans after the students’ academic records have been reviewed, while successful applicants will obtain Bursary clearance before registering for the approved courses.

Speaking after the approval, the Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of Senate, Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, said the resit examination would help address some of the challenges faced by students who had spilled over or stayed beyond the normal period of study.

He added that the measure would also reduce the insecurity associated with spill-over, financial burden on affected students and give them a chance to complete their studies on time.
