The remains of the former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, have been laid to rest at the Gudu Cemetery in Abuja.

The former governor died on Sunday in the United Kingdom, from where his remains were brought back to Nigeria for burial.

The funeral was attended by Kogi State Governor and Chief Mourner, Ahmed Usman Ododo; former Governors, Yahaya Bello and Captain Idris Wada, as well as members of the family of the deceased, government officials, political associates and other dignitaries.

The gathering provided an opportunity for family members, political associates and leaders of the state to pay their last respect to the former governor.

The remains of the former governor arrived Nigerian in the early hours of today and was received by Governor Ododo other leaders of the state, family members and political associates.

The state government had earlier constituted a committee to work with the family of the former governor to make arrangements leading to a hitch-free burial of the late Alhaji Ibrahim Idris.

The late Ibrahim Idris was the governor of Kogi State from 2003 to 2012 after serving for two terms.

He was the second elected Governor of Kogi State and played a significant role in the development of the state in different sectors during his tenure in office.
