Deputy Gov Leads Thank-You Tour in Kogi East After APC Primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State has begun a thank-you and mobilisation tour across the three Federal Constituencies in Kogi East Senatorial District.

The tour led by the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Comrade Joel Salifu was organised in honour of the APC Kogi East Senatorial Candidate, Joseph Erico, and culminated in a homecoming reception at his hometown, Etutekpe, Okpo, in Olamaboro Local Government Area.

The delegation include the party’s three House of Representatives candidates in Kogi East namely Ibrahim Halims for Ankpa Federal Constituency, Gowon Haruna for Dekina Federal Constituency, and Victor Uchola for Idah Federal Constituency.

The tour also had members of the Kogi State House of Assembly, commissioners, local government chairmen, political appointees, party chieftains and supporters.

The engagement commenced in Idah, where the delegation paid homage to the Attah Igala, His Royal Majesty, Alaji Mathew Opaluwa Ogwuche, CFR, before proceeding to Ejule, Anyigba and Ankpa.

The exercise provided Erico the opportunity to thank party leaders and members for their support during the senatorial primary election, while also strengthening the party’s structure across the nine local government areas in Kogi East.

At the homecoming reception in Etutekpe, the deputy governor, congratulated Erico and declared that the party remain united behind his candidacy.

He said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had settled doubts over the APC’s senatorial candidate for Kogi East by uploading the candidates’ names to its portal, describing the outcome as a “win-win” situation with “no victor and no vanquished.”

Salifu also presented the three House of Representatives candidates to the electorates, urging party members to close ranks and work collectively for victory in the 2027 general elections.

The APC Senatorial candidate, thanked leaders and the people of Kogi East for the confidence reposed in him, describing his candidacy as a collective movement for the people.

He pledged to provide responsive, accessible and effective representation at the National Assembly, promising not to betray the people’s trust.

Erico also acknowledged the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and Deputy Governor Joel Salifu, urging APC members across wards and polling units to sustain the mobilisation and take the party’s message to the grassroots.

Also speaking, the APC candidate for Ankpa-Omala-Olamaboro Federal Constituency, Abdullahi Halims, described the gathering as a shared investment in the political future of Kogi East.

He urged party members to remain united ahead of the elections, expressing confidence that unity among the party leadership, candidates and supporters would strengthen the APC’s prospects across Kogi East and Kogi State in the 2027 general elections.
