In a proactive move to curb insecurity and foster self-reliance, Hon. (Arc.) Salman Idris FNIA has launched a youth and women empowerment program targeted at improving safety and development in the Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency.
The initiative, which was held on Friday, 9th May 2025, took place at the Anglican Cathedral Hall in Kabba and brought together 100 carefully selected beneficiaries from across the constituency.
Organized in partnership with Arcad Projects Limited and facilitated by the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), Ilorin, the one-day intensive training focused on equipping participants with knowledge on conflict resolution, community policing, and self-defense—key strategies for enhancing grassroots security.
In addition to the security training, each participant received a grant of One Hundred Thousand Naira (₦100,000) as part of the empowerment aspect of the program. This financial support is intended to help them launch or strengthen small-scale businesses, thereby reducing economic vulnerability and the likelihood of being drawn into criminal activities.
Hon. Salman Idris emphasized that empowering local stakeholders, especially youth and women was essential in building a secure and resilient constituency. He noted that when community members are equipped with the right tools and resources, they become agents of peace and positive change.
Participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity, describing the training as timely and impactful. Many pledged to utilize both the knowledge and financial support received to contribute meaningfully to their communities and to be vigilant in promoting peace and security.
