‎The Kogi State Government has reaffirmed commitment to strengthening youth participation in governance by supporting youth-led initiatives to promote critical role of young people in ensuring inclusive development.

‎This was disclosed by the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Hon. Ismaila Isah, at a youth-focused Budget Analysis event by the Open Government Partnership (OGP) forum organized by the Lugard Youth Development and Empowerment Initiative in Lokoja.

‎Represented by LugardTV’s Lead presenter, Sherifat Ibrahim, Hon. Isah described the OGP framework as a vital mechanism for enhancing transparency, accountability, civic engagement, and innovation in public administration.

‎He commended the organisers for sustaining a platform that effectively connects young people to the governance process.

‎He emphasized that youths remain central to the state’s development agenda, noting that their creativity, energy, and digital skills are indispensable in shaping responsive and inclusive policies.

‎According to him, sustainable progress can only be achieved by actively integrating young people into decision-making at all levels of government.

‎Highlighting the importance of youth-led initiatives, Hon. Isah stated that such efforts play a key role in promoting transparency and accountability through activities like budget tracking, policy advocacy, and participation in thematic working groups.

‎He added that programmes such as the Youth Sector Budget Analysis are equipping young citizens with the knowledge required to engage government meaningfully.

‎Hon. Isah also pointed to key achievements under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, including youth-focused interventions in sports, skills acquisition, and the creative sector, with over 500 youths reportedly trained.
