Finland in partnership with the European Union has launched a €23m initiative to strengthen Nigeria’s digital public services and support the rollout of the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme.
The initiative, fully funded by the European Union under its Global Gateway strategy, forms part of the EU-Nigeria Digital Economy package aimed at driving inclusive digital transformation.
Implementation will be led by Finland’s development and training company, HAUS, in partnership with ESTDEV, bringing European expertise in digital governance and public sector innovation.
Tagged “Support to Digital Public Services and Talent Management,” the programme aligns with Nigeria’s National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (2020–2030) and the priorities of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.
The initiative is also designed to support the federal government 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme, a flagship initiative aimed at building a strong digital workforce across the country.
Officials said the initiative will expand access to secure, interoperable and citizen-focused digital services, strengthen institutional capacity and governance, and promote digital inclusion.
Speaking on the development, Finland Ambassador to Nigeria, Sanna Selin said Finland would leverage its experience in secure digital governance, interoperability and citizen-focused services to support Nigeria’s digital transformation.
She added that the partnership would strengthen cybersecurity and data protection practices, build institutional capacity and expand access to digital services, helping to shape a more transparent and innovation-driven digital future for Nigeria.
