The Management of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has reiterated its ban on signing-out ceremonies by final-year students, directing that the regulation be strictly enforced.
The university, in a statement issued as final-year students prepare for their final examinations, emphasised that all forms of signing-out activities are prohibited within and around the university premises, including the main gates of the Felele and Adankolo campuses.
According to the management, prohibited activities include organising or participating in signing-out ceremonies or related events, as well as spraying or pouring water, champagne, wine or other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, powders, foams or substances during such activities.
The university also banned road processions, convoys and gatherings organised in connection with signing-out ceremonies.
Students were further warned against smearing, defacing or damaging university property, particularly the main gate, as part of signing-out activities, as well as engaging in any other activity designed to circumvent the existing ban.
However, the management clarified that final-year students are permitted to take photographs and make video recordings, provided such activities are conducted responsibly, comply with university regulations and do not constitute or facilitate a signing-out ceremony.
The management warned that any student found organising, participating in, facilitating or promoting prohibited signing-out activities would face disciplinary action in accordance with the university’s laws and regulations.
It congratulated the final-year students on reaching an important milestone in their academic journey and wished them success in their final examinations.
The university said it looks forward to celebrating the students’ achievements at the appropriate time and in the proper manner during the Convocation Ceremony.
The management therefore urged the students to remain focused, conduct themselves responsibly and conclude their studies with the dignity expected of graduates of the Federal University Lokoja.
It also called for the cooperation of all students to ensure strict compliance with the existing regulation.
