The Kogi State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has mourned the death of former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, describing his passing as a great loss to the state and Nigeria.

In a condolence message signed by its Chairman, Ismaila Isah, mnipr, the institute expressed sympathy to the former governor’s family, the Kogi State Government and people, as well as his friends and associates across the country.

The NIPR described Ibrahim Idris, popularly known as a significant figure in the political and developmental history of Kogi State, noting that his tenure as governor from 2003 to 2012 witnessed interventions in infrastructure, workers’ welfare, education, healthcare, water supply and housing.

It listed the Greater Lokoja Water Scheme, Lokoja International Market and Confluence Stadium among the projects associated with his administration, alongside investments in roads, housing, healthcare and education across the state.

The institute also recalled his calm disposition, accessibility and commitment to peaceful coexistence among’s diverse communities in Kogi State.

It said his approach to public leadership underscored the importance of dialogue, mutual understanding and consensus -building in fostering trust between government and citizens and sustaining peace in a diverse society.

The Kogi NIPR said the former governor’s death marked the end of an important chapter in the history of the state, while his contributions to public service, business, philanthropy and community development would remain part of his legacy.

The institute urged Kogites to honour his memory by upholding peace, unity, tolerance and commitment to the development of the state.

The NIPR prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and comfort for his family.
