Red Devils Run Riot in Rain-Soaked Friendly, West Ham Also Triumph Over Everton

Manchester United showcased their growing attacking depth with a commanding 4–1 win over Bournemouth in a Premier League Summer Series pre-season fixture held at Soldier Field, Chicago, on Wednesday. In a match played under persistent rain and gusty conditions, United’s blend of youth and experience proved too strong for the Cherries.

Ruben Amorim’s men wasted no time asserting control, with striker Rasmus Hojlund opening the scoring in the 8th minute. The Danish international headed home a precise cross from Patrick Dorgu, setting the tone for a dominant United display. Dorgu, who recently joined the squad, followed up with a goal of his own in the 25th minute, latching onto a quick free-kick from Mason Mount to double the lead.

United’s fluidity and sharp transitions continued after the break. Amad Diallo made it 3–0 with a composed finish in the 53rd minute. Amorim then rotated heavily, bringing on nine substitutes to test squad depth. One of the young entrants, 18-year-old Ethan Williams, made an immediate impression by scoring United’s fourth just two minutes after stepping onto the pitch.

Despite their commanding performance, United could not keep a clean sheet. Defender Matthijs de Ligt inadvertently diverted the ball into his own net in the 88th minute, handing Bournemouth a late consolation. Nevertheless, it was a near-flawless outing for the Red Devils, who had earlier beaten West Ham 2–1 in their first match of the U.S. tour.

In a separate fixture also held in Chicago, West Ham bounced back from their loss to United by defeating Everton 2–1. Idrissa Gueye had put the Toffees ahead early, but goals from Lucas Paqueta and German forward Niclas Fullkrug turned the tie around for the Hammers.

Everton manager David Moyes remained unfazed by the result, citing lack of squad readiness. “I’m not overly concerned because I don’t have the players I need and want,” he said. “We knew coming to the U.S. would be difficult. At the moment, we’re not ready to perform well in this tournament or to start the Premier League season.”
